The 1966 State Visit of Emperor Haile Selassie I to the Caribbean” FOOD TO SHARE COOKED BY RAS KARMA 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Reasoning: Rastafari United Nations (RUN) Structural challenges, place within the Rastafari world, goals and future perspectives. 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Storytelling excerpts from the Kebra Negast by Sista Caro (French) and Ras Mama (English) 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Reasoning: Unity within the Rastafari movement. Sis Berenice will share her experiences in Jamaica, France and Shashemene, I and I will share visions and experiences of unity. Each participant is invited to share a movement, meditation, or practice for waking up the body and spirit. 10:00 AM: Nyabinghi prayers & chants led by Binghi Pele 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Speech by Binghi Pele about his journey, his Rastafari heritage across three generations, his role as messenger and coordinator, as well as the presentation of his community work at the Nyabinghi Center in Jamaica. 12:00 PM until 09:30 PM Jekos Dub with his Low Tech Sound system 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM: SHARED MEAL WHILE SOUND SYSTEM PLAYS 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM: Book presentation by Giulia Bonacci: “Enter the Lion. The 1966 State Visit of Emperor Haile Selassie I to the Caribbean” 3:30 PM- 3:45PM: A brief history of the Rastafari movement from its Jamaican roots and the different Rastafari houses in dub poetry by Sista Caro ‘pon Low Tech Sound 6:00 PM- 7:00PM: Permaculture & self-sufficiency with Ras Arni. 12:00 PM – 09:30 PM: During the sound system session, singers, selectas and MCs will take the mic and spin a hand-picked roots selection.
