Budget Update Jan. 26
Summary
When the Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica end of October 2025, InI choosed to give a helping hand to InI brethren and sisthren in Jamaica. In the first 2-3 weeks seeing the none-assistance coming from the government of Jamaica InI contacted Binghi Jahmes, who didn’t know what to do at the time, he accepted to do a mapping of the Rastafari Communities around the damaged area… The task was hard as many roads destroyed, but Binghi Jahmes and his Team went through the ruff road and started a distribution of food and sanitary supplies receiving the first Western Union Donations from InI RUN in Switzerland. A Trunk full of food was given to different Rastafari Active Members to finish the distributions around their area! The mapping continued and money strength was given to dozens of Rastafari Family + food supplies. Financial helps to rebuild some Roofs was given to a few brethren for their private home. At the same time in December strength was given to Ras Earthquake for the Malvern Nyahbinghi Center in St. Elisabeth, after all the roofs of the quarters were destroyed and the bathrooms as well. All strength was focus on that Center to have it ready on the 7th January for their annual gathering. A food packages distribution as been done also at the Binghi gathering where over 60 packages has been given to the Rastafari Families (Natural Coconut Oil – lentils – brown flour -water…etc…). Also, some solar lamps and battery chargers has been distributed. The Community is really thanksfull of what has been done for the community.
The work continues and so first was to give a helping hand in time of destruction what InI did spending more than a 1’250’000 jmd . Giving thanks to all the donators who make this happened in a short time! Now the second aim was to have a food self-sustainability, InI received about 3 kilos outta seed that hon. Binghi Pelé just brought to Jamaica. InI also managed to receive about 70 packs of seeds from a US organic seeds bank producer, who sent them directly to Portland, as he has family there. It will be distributed to the ones knowing as the best cultivators coming at the gathering from the 27th of February until the 2nd of March 2026, Mama Fayah Family, White Rock /Buffbay Portland. And others along the way. With one main demand of multiplying the seeds for future years, and seeds bank of natural seeds. As Jamaica has been polluted by GMO seeds only selling in farm store.
InI is working with a Rice producer and would like to expand his agriculture up to a way that the Rastafari Community would not only depend on the foreign Rice imported everyday. Usually a old rice of poor quality. So, the land is there and InI need to invest with this project, about 300’000jmd… (3 times 100’000jmd). And see how this project can rise.
For the “Build safer houses for future hurricanes, greenhouses, emergency sleeping places, and more….” InI help a few to rebuild their roofs, but in zinc because InI see how it is really costly to build a “concrete roof”. (see budget under…)
So, the Rastafari Community need a safe place to welcome people as an emergency sleeping places. Mama Fayah Family Center in Portland got only a few damages as the stage claps in the first days when the storm approached, but the quarters (sleeping places were not damaged). It could welcome the ones but there wasn’t no electricity (a generator for emergency is needy) for 3 weeks loosing all fruits juices and vegetables in the fridges. Most of the zinc roofs were leaking, it wouldn’t be a nice welcoming. Actually, Portland is getting rain everyday from the storm damaging the roofs even more. InI need to make Portland Rastafari Center Welcome to all the Ones in need of emergency for future storms. As Mama Fayah Family has done this Work all Lifetimes. Welcoming sick people, distressed people, guests and tourists, workers from everywhere and from ForIver! Portland has been the first place outside Kingston were the first Nyahbinghi would gather. And Mama Fayah Family has always been part of these gatherings. Also, this yard is a productive yard that employed 2-6 Rastafari at the coconut oil production, at the rastarant, art and craft or during constructions. An annual gathering on the 27th of February til the 2nd march is organized by the family where many ones troding from the island or internationally, eating free food each day.
